When under pressure – 1 Peter
What do we do when the culture we have lived in “turns”. The culture that once called itself “Christian”, then just sympathetic but non-committal – now becomes alien. it no longer understands what we stand for, no longer wants what we offer. And sees our benign gestures as offensive. What do we do? Peter addresses these same issues, as the might of the Roman Empire begins to turn its fierce gaze upon this new movement coming out of troublesome Palestine.
Paul calls for: endurance in the face of pressure, good example to steer away criticism, and hope in the future Glory. We seek to follow his guidance too.
