Hey, we work for charities. Good causes! Why be “balanced” at all. Let’s get on with The Cause. Really? Rather naive. We persuade people to part with their money in good causes – and immediately you have all four parts to balance. The donor. The money itself. The service given. Getting it from one to the other.

Whether we work in English prisons, or in hospitals in Haiti, we need balanced score cards. Indeed, we often have them, but they are often not used.
