Jesus & Chief Priest

Palm Sunday: Big City Crowd Look For The New

Hip hip hooray.
Scream, yell, cheer this country preacher
Put out all palms, we like the new.
To shake up the Old Order
Jesus needs to be helped.

MT 27:22 “What shall I do, then, with Jesus who is called Christ?” Pilate asked. They all answered, “Crucify him!” 23“Why? What crime has he committed?” asked Pilate. But they shouted all the louder, “Crucify him!”

Holy Monday:  Realpolitik Of The High Priest

Grind my teeth.
A country upstart shakes this whole House of Cards
His juvenile verbal incontinence
Seeks to repeal our Ancient Laws.
With no understanding of the real world
From out of it he has to be helped.

JN 11:48 if we let him go on like this, everyone will believe in him, and then the Romans will come and take away both our place and our nation.” 49 Then one of them, named Caiaphas, who was high priest that year, spoke up, “You know nothing at all! 50 You do not realize that it is better for you that one man die for the people than that the whole nation perish.”

Holy Tuesday:  Judas The Schemer

Get real man.
“Its good to talk” – so let’s do face to Face,
Eyeballing the Grey Beards, sort something out.
But by the back door.  You and Them
Both have to be helped.

MT 27:3 When Judas, who had betrayed him, saw that Jesus was condemned he was seized with remorse and returned the thirty silver coins to the chief priests and the elders. 4 “I have sinned,” he said, “for I have betrayed innocent blood.”  “What is that to us?” they replied. “That’s your responsibility.”

Holy Wednesday: Simon of Cyrene Is Hopeful

Hopeful helper here.
As an African, I look an outsider
As a seeker, I want to be an insider
I’ll peer out of the expectant crowd, cheer perhaps.
Whatever I can do I’ll do
To see that he is helped

LK 23:26 As they led him away, they seized Simon from Cyrene, who was on his way in from the country, and put the cross on him and made him carry it behind Jesus. 27 A large number of people followed him, including women who mourned and wailed for him.

Maundy Thursday: Rocky Is Ready

Got to be ready.
Got my sword, got it sharp
Turn the cheek – of course, but just in case…
If they do jail Him I’ll be there to spring Him free.
The New Order will not be stopped
And I am here to help.

MT 26:74 Then he began to call down curses on himself and he swore to them, “I don’t know the man!”  Immediately a rooster crowed. 75 Then Peter remembered the word Jesus had spoken: “Before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times.” And he went outside and wept bitterly.

Good Friday: The Penitent Thief/Terrorist

O.M.G.
My co-conspirator is nailed up already
Still clutching at the last shreds of self image
That Preacher’s here too, his words come back,
Surprising me like a long forgotten sweet scent.
Ditch the rag of self image – “Remember Me!”
I want to be helped.

LK 23:41 But this man has done nothing wrong.” 42 Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom ” 43 Jesus answered him, “I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise.”

Easter Saturday: Silence

Easter Sunday: Three Women And A Grave

Come. See. Listen.
We sisters do, but the Brothers need help
We don’t blindly believe, nor blindly un-believe
Face the facts – He needs no help.
Someone is by the empty grave
He says “the help you seek is here – I am”.

LK 24:10 It was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the others with them who told this to the apostles. 11 But they did not believe the women, because their words seemed to them like nonsense. 12 Peter, however, got up and ran to the tomb. Bending over, he saw ….
